CARE GROUP LUNCH (March 4th)  Those with a last name beginning F-J and S-Z will host a visitors’ lunch this Sunday.  Prior to the luncheon, you will be getting an additional email from your Care Group Leader with additional information. 
Past Events 
BBQ FUNDRAISER (Saturday, February 3rd) The teens will host an Old West BBQ and Moving Picture Show on the grounds.  This is to raise money for their trip to Winterfest.  Please come out and support our young folks.  Dinner begins at 5:00.  Tickets are $15 and go on sale Sunday January 14th.
CARE GROUP LUNCH (Sunday, February 4th) Visitors, you are our honored guests!  Mark Andersson’s Care Group, those with a last names beginning A & B, and Mike McGee’s Care Group, those with a last name beginning K – O, will host a visitors’ lunch this Sunday. Please bring a main dish plus a side or dessert to share with our visitors. The lunch will be immediately following the worship service, approximately 11:00, and held in the Hebrews coffee shop. The next lunch will be held March 4th.  
SPECIAL LUNCHEON (Sunday, January 28th) There will be a special luncheon for our Snow Birds on January 28th in the HeBrews fellowship hall immediately following the worship service.  The idea is to give our northern brothers and sisters an opportunity to get to know each other.  Snow Birds should bring a main dish and a side dish to share.  
MEMORIAL SERVICE (January 16th) There will be a memorial service for David White on Tuesday at 11 am.  It will be held in the chapel at Lowther Funeral Home (1655 27th St.). 
CELEBRATION OF LIFE (January 13) There will be a celebration for our sister,  Louise Belfonte,  Saturday at 11:00 am in the auditorium. Louise worked as our office secretary for many years, and worshipped with this congregation her entire life.  Her parents were part of the original founding couples of the VBcofC. Come celebrate Louise’s life. 
ANNUAL MEETING/ELDERS’ FORUM (January 7, 2018) We will meet in the Fellowship Hall at 5 pm.  This is a time when you can find out the direction the Elders will lead the members during the coming year. Our theme for the year is “Community”, and the elders will discuss that with the congregation. There will also be a time for asking questions. Members, please plan to attend. 
CHRISTMAS EVE LUNCHEON (December 24th)  We will hold our annual Christmas Eve community luncheon with turkey and all of the trimmings.  We will begin serving the meal at 11:00.
CHRISTMAS CAROLING & CHRISTMAS EVE LUNCHEON SET-UP (Wednesday – December 20th)  We will be caroling around town to those needing a little extra Christmas cheer.
CHRISTMAS PARTY (Sunday – December 10th) Our annual Christmas party and monthly Sunday evening get together. 
CELEBRATION OF LIFE (December 3) We will celebrate the life of our sister Emily Warren.  The Celebration of Life will begin at 3:00 in the auditorium.  In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to:

DINNER ON THE GROUNDS (November 5, 2017) 11:00-? There will be a church wide potluck dinner on the grounds immediately follow the worship service.  The church will provide fried chicken.  Please bring your favorite side or dessert to go with the meal.  There will also be fun and games following the meal!!!

ELDERS’ FORUM (September 3rd) These are designed to give information and updates as well as an opportunity for the congregation to ask questions or give ideas.  This will be the first Sunday night of the month at 5:00.  Please make plans to be here on that day at 5:00 p.m.

PROMOTION NIGHT (August 30th) Our annual promotion night for our young people.  Jason King and David Paladin are getting some things together to make it special.  This is also the night our youth will “move up” to the next Bible class level.
ROCKIN’ SENIORS (August 17th) Seniors get together @ 5:00 p.m in the Fellowship Hall for food and games.

The lunch will be immediately following the worship service and held in the Hebrews coffee shop. The next lunch will be September 3rd. 
ROCKIN’ SENIORS (July 20th)  The Rockin’ Seniors will meet this Thursday evening in HeBrews for dinner and games. 
INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION (July 2, 2017) Our first Sunday night fellowship with be an Independence Day Celebration at our building.  There will be a short program followed by games and activities.  David Paladin will be grilling  hotdogs and hamburgers.  Please bring your favorite dessert to share.

HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR NIGHT (May 7th) Come out to honor and celebrate our graduating high school seniors.  We will meet in the auditorium for the presentation and move to the fellowship hall for refreshments. 
FISH FRY (April 28th) Antigua Mission Trip Fish Fry. 5 – 7 p.m. A limited number of tickets are available for $10.

MISSION SUNDAY (March 5th) Start praying and planning now for our annual Mission Sunday program. This year our speaker will be Dave Osbourne from the Linstead church in Linstead, Jamaica.  We will hear about a great opportunity to bring the Gospel to that area with the work that is progressing in Linstead.  More information about our planned areas of support, and our financial goal will be announced shortly.

ARTHUR DAVID (January 22nd) He will be preaching.  We have been a part of his ministry in Africa for a few years. Not only has he done a good work, but he is a true Christian gentleman. We celebrate this friendship. We will no longer support Brother David as his ministry has become self-sufficient! Following worship we will have dinner on the grounds. 
TEEN BANQUET (January 21, 2017)  6:00 The teen banquet will be held at the court house executive center 
CHRISTMAS CAROLING (December 21st) We will go caroling to the shut-ins or others who might enjoy some holiday cheer. The more the merrier.  Please join in. 
COMMUNITY LUNCHEON (December 24th) We will hold our annual Christmas Eve Community Luncheon.  All are invited.

YOUTH PANCAKE BREAKFAST (October 29th) We have a fundraiser going on for our youth. This will be Jason’s first, so let’s really show him our support. They are selling tickets to help cut the cost for our young people to go to Winterfest in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Most of you know this is THE event the teens look forward to each year. They have the opportunity to worship with thousands of teenagers from all over the country and take in several classes. It is also a time for them to bond as a group. Here are the details: October 29th from 8-10 am; cost is $14 for tickets (see Jason or any in the youth group); it will be held at Applebee’s in front of Walmart; the breakfast includes pancakes, eggs, sausage, and drink (OJ, fountain drinks and coffee).

REMEMBERING 9/11
(September 11, 2016)
Milton Rosario will be speaking to us.  He is a former NY City Police Detective who survived the events of 9/11.  Sunday marks the 15 year anniversary of that sad day in our history.  Milton will guide us through a series of amateur news clips, documentary, and even emergency vehicle dash-cam video footage.  This will begin at 5:00.  It is not recommended for those younger than high-school aged.  Child care will be provided. 
PROMOTION NIGHT

Come back at 5:30 to celebrate the new school year for our kids and learn who is our Teacher of the Year for 2015-2016!  We will be in the auditorium

GOING AWAY PARTY 
(August 14th) There will be a going away party for Joel and Ann following the evening service.  Please come to send them off with love and well wishes as they seek to further the Kingdom in Mesa, AZ.  We will miss them dearly.
TEEN WORK WEEK (July 27-29)
MISSION SUNDAY Mission Sunday is fast approaching.  In the next few weeks you will hear about our mission plans, both foreign and domestic, for our upcoming mission year.  Our speaker will be Jeff Smith from Lubbock, TX.  Jeff is part of an organization called Disciple Trips, which organizes short term mission trips to several different foreign countries. 
 
We will also be having a “Dinner on the Grounds”.
TEEN BANQUET (February 13th) at the Courthouse Executive Center beginning at 5:00 p.m.  The teens are busy preparing for the Teen Banquet.  This is one of their major fundraisers and is always a fun evening of food, fellowship, and laughter.  Make plans to attend so you can help the teens fund their WinterFest trip and appreciate all of the hard work they have put in. 
CHRISTMAS PARTY (December 13th) at the Heritage Center beginning at 5 pm. This is always a fun night for the church. The event planners have worked hard to pull it all together.
CHRISTMAS CAROLING (December 20th) @ 5:30 pm. This is something that has become a favorite for some. Every year several of us head out and try to hit as many of our people who are shut-in, going through hard times, or just needs a good pick-me-up. We will meet at the Coffee Shop. The more people who participate the more groups we can send out and more people we can cover. If you know of someone who would benefit from us singing to them, let us know.
CHRISTMAS EVE LUNCHEON (December 24th) from 11 am-2 pm. This is our annual luncheon to provide a good meal to those who in our community. Spread the word.
SPECIAL SPEAKER (December 27th) 10:30 am. We are privileged to have Dominic Dos Santos, and his family, with us on the last Sunday of the year. Most of you remember when he spoke for our Missions Sunday a couple of years ago. Several said we had to have him back… well he’s back!
